Notes for John J.D. Shell
John was the only one (of Francis A. Shell's sons to return from the war) unhurt. After the war he engaged in milling at Aberdeen, Mississippi, near which place he died in 1888, leaving a wife and three children, who are still living and reside in Clay County, Mississippi.
