Notes for Isham Malone Shell

Isham Malone Shell received land in Murray County, Georgia (District 8, Section 3, No. 109) in 1832 from the Cherokee Land/Gold Lottery, but never lived there. The area was not settled until after 1835 as Indians were still living there.

According to Georgia Census records, the family was in Henry County, Georgia in 1830 with three female slaves and in Coweta County, Georgia by 1840. The 1870 Census for Coweta County, Georgia records Isham & Mary Shell's residence with Rufus (son) & Harriett Shell.
