Notes for Elizabeth Malone
After John Shell's death, his children moved to Georgia. From the Christian Advocate: "Mrs. Elizabeth Shell was the daugher of Isham and Lucy Malone of Mecklenburg Co., VA. She was born February 26, 1762. The last 24 years of her life were spent in Georgia, where she died on 29th of March, 1847." Her Will is found in Newton County, Georgia Will Book l, 1823-1851, dated May 3, 1841 and recorded May 1847. In it she names children Isham M. Shell, Sophia Middlebrook, "Edmond Shell's heirs" grandson Henry W. Shell, granddaughter Marthey Ann Hogh, and grandson John A. Shell, John E. Shell and Drewry J. Shell. Zere Middlebrook is named executor with witnesses A.B. Middlebrook, J.C. Middlebrook, Wm. W. Crumbley and Isaac S. Middlebrook.
After the death of John Shell in Newberry County, South Carolina and after the estate was settled (estimated to be about 1821 to 1823), Elizabeth settled in Newton County with her only daughter Sophia Weston Shell and husband Zere Pendergrass Middlebrooks. She live there the last 24 years of her life.
