Henry Harrison Shell was known as "Tip" Shell. He was a baptist minister. After moving from North Carolina, the Shell family settled in Tuskegee, Alabama. They were among the first families to settle in the Brushey Creek community.
A Henry H. Shell is listed as having been born in April 1842 at Nostasulga, Macon County, Alabama. This man enlisted April 1861 at Montgomery, Alabama in the Company E, 2nd Alabama Calvary. He served until the surrender of the South.
