Notes for James Rufus Oliver Shell
James Rufus Oliver Shell enlisted in Atlanta on January 20, 1898 with Company C of the 3rd Georgia Infantry. He served in the Spanish-American War at the rank of Private as the Company Wagoneer. He was discharged January 1, 1899.
His obituary notice was in the Newnan Times Herald, Thursday, January 5, 1950, Page 3, Column 3. "Retired carpenter and life long resident of Coweta County and Senoia died at Newnan Hospital Thursday night. A member of Senoia Methodist Church and was a veteran of the Spanish-American war."
