Notes for James Abrams
James Abrams, Jr. 3/4/1782 - 1/16/1849 married Martha Shell 11/4/1786 - 5/4/1866 dau of Amy and William Shell, Jr. The old Mt Tabor Methodist Church was organized 1820 and built in 1821. Land for this church was deeded to the Methodist Church Society by William Shell (Jr.) and his wife Amy Shell.
No doubt James Jr and Martha were members of this church since her parents donated land for the church and cemetery. Their home was located in the Mollyhorn/Mollohon section of Newberry County, SC near where Hunting Creek rises by way of old Mt Tabor Methodist Church. William Tedford and Thomas P. Abrams 2nd and 3rd sons were executors of their father's estate. --Probate Court, Newberry County, box 113, pkg 295. James Jr. and Martha are buried in the Shell Graveyard within a half mile of old Mt. Tabor Methodist Church site and cemetery. However tradition is that he (James Tabor Jr.) was buried under an apple tree in his orchard, which most likely is the Shell Graveyard.
