Notes for James Glasgow
James, Robert & Rachel's son, married his first cousin Mary who was his Mother's niece.
James Glasgow wrote his will on the 17th day of October 1775. He lived at Gilder's Creek in Craven County (now Newberry County), South Carolina. His will was proven July 13, 1793 (Will Book "A", page 194, Vol. 1, Wills, page 89). He died later in the year of 1775. He left his wife Mary a third of all his goods, chattels, and moveables at her own free will and disposal. He also allowed her the house and fifty acres of land formerly possessed by James Cannon, during her widowhood, and then to dispose of it to whatever one of the children she thought deserved it best. He gave to his son Robert Glasgow, one hundred acres of land with the house that he (James Glasgow) then lived in. He gave to his son John, fifty acres of land. He allowed the remainder of his goods, chattels, and moveables to be justly, truly, and equally divided between all his children, Robert, John, Archabald, Wilson, Margaret and Rachel Glasgow. He also allowed in his will that his wife Mary, Robert and John be just in bringing up his small children out of the profit of the lands according to their proportion.
