Robert Abney Abrams was the first honor graduate of Newberry College, class 1897. He taught school in
Newberry County and later in Anderson County. He was at one time Anderson County's Superintendent of
Education. He later lived in Clinton, SC and died in Maryland. Buried at Edgewood Cemetery, Greenwood, South Carolina.
