Notes for Marcus Alexander Drayton Glasgow

(Greenville?) Advocate, 1927 or 1928:

Mr. M. A. Glasgow, Sr., a long-time reader of the Advocate, celebrated his seventy-eighth birthday on March 20, at his home near Birmingham. Several of his nine children and grandchildren were present at the dinner that was served in his honor. Those who had to be absent, on account of pressing duties, sent expressions of love to their father, who has been seriously ill for some time. "Alex" Glasgow, as he commonly is known, has been an active worker in the M. E. Church, South, having served as leader and steward in the particular church of his community for over 30 years. He is the last member of the original "Glasgow" family. His two older brothers, Rev. J. S. Glasgow, and S.R.W. Glasgow, have died within the past two years. His family and many friends congratulate him and pray that his health may improve as these beautiful spring days come.
