Notes for James Edward Glasgow
James Edward Glasgow, Sr., known by most people as Ed, served in the US Navy on the USS Cowpens during WW II. This was the first aircraft carrier to enter Tokoyo Bay when the Japanese surrendered. Ed had nine battle stars and several awards for his service.
After WW II, Ed worked in law enforcement. He was Police Chief in Haleyville, Alabama and later Chief Deputy Sheriff of Franklin County, Alabama. In 1958 Ed was defeated in a race for Sheriff of
Franklin County. Later he acquired a resturant in Phil Campbell, Alabama which he operated until
his untimely death in 1968.
