Notes for James William Pickett
Soon after his marriage, James William took up land near his parents 25 October 1860 (Section 27, Township 13, Range 8). He and Martha are in the 1860 census of Natchitoches Parish, page 138. James William Pickett joined the Confederate army (Pvt., Co. B, 11th Batt., La. Inf.) 6 May 1862 at Natchitoches. He died when the Queen of the West was sunk on Grand Lake, in Louisiana, 14 April 1863.
