Notes for Hosea W. Pickett
Hosea and Mattie were still living in Red River Parish in late 1873 but it is said, and some records indicate, they lived in Texas for quite a long time. By 1900 the family was back in Red River Parish and Hosea bought forty acres of land in the vicinity of Coushatta 14 March.

In January 1904, Mattie bought 11/2 acres; this is the property on which Hosea built the house that is still standing on Carroll Street. The place (on south side of the Coushatta-Springville Road, near the Huckabay and Saylor homes) was sold in October 1910.
Hosea is known to have had a close relationship with his brother, Jack, and with Mattie's brother, Green. (see John Mercer "Jack" Pickett)
