The following letter appeared in a Mobile, Alabama, newspaper in 1862:

Black Bend, Wilcox Co., March 29

Col. Forsyth: As I wish to contribute some thing to the Ladies' Gunboat, I send you this
quilt to be disposed of as you may see proper for the Gunboat.

She lived with her sister, Mariah Antoinette McCall (114), after the death of their mother, first in Wilcox County and later in Monroe County.
