She received the A.B. degree from the Woman's College of Alabama (now Huntingdon College), Montgomery, Alabama. She taught school prior to her marriage and was responsible for obtaining and preserving copies of some of the Hybart family records which were later destroyed by fire. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Methodist Church.
