A magna cum laude graduate of Judson College, she received Master's and Doctor's degrees from Columbia University. She was Dean at Judson and was Dean of Women at the University of Miami at the time of her sudden death in her office. She was active in various educational and professional organizations and served as treasurer of the National Dean's Association.
